Home Burial

Burying a beloved pet at home can allow owners to remember them by planting a tree or establishing a commemorative garden in that special location at home.

 

Sunshine Coast Council allows burial of pets that have passed on private property. Their requirements are as follows:

- Must be buried so the pet is under a minimum of 30cm of compacted soil (we recommend at least 50cm)

- Must not cause any odour

- Must be at least 100m from any waterways

- Must not be buried in non-biodegradable coverings/plastic bags

For other regional councils you will need to find out your local obligations as not all councils will allow home burial of pets and may have other rules.
